In Ramgarh valley, known as the fruit bowl of Kumaon, there are many small villages. In this valley Hartola is such a small village, comprising of less than 100 dwelling units where each house is surrounded by its own orchard. During the months of March & April wild Rhododendrons bloom and the whole jungle seems to be on fire. It is a sight worth seeing. Hartola is connected by motor able roads with Haldwani ( 72 KMs) and Nainital ( 56 KMs). Almost all the signs of modern day civilization, such as chaotic city and town’s culture, are invisible. Nearest cinema hall or a restaurant is in Nainital. It simply suffices to say that one comes over here to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature all away from the frills of modernization. Towering snow capped mountain peaks are clearly seen during Oct- April period.
Climatic conditions are similar to those of Nainital. A light shawl or a sweeter will be handy even during summer morning and evenings.
